A chess database is judged on three criteria: its size, the quality of its content, and how fast you can access it. Most solutions on the market sacrifice at least one of them.

NotiChess offers a reference database of 13 million OTB games, collected and updated daily from the international tournament scene. You don't wait for the annual update of a paid product: the games played this week are here this week.

Above all, 100% of these games are over-the-board games, played on a real board, in tournament conditions. No online blitz, no engine games, no statistical padding. When you look at a variation, you are looking only at what players actually chose at the clock, with the pressure and the thinking time that implies.

Reaching this volume required a considerable collection effort. Rather than relying on a single source, we aggregated more than 100 different sources spread around the world, including the 190 national federations affiliated with FIDE. Federations, tournament organizers, arbiters, regional archives: every feed is retrieved, normalized and integrated daily. This approach gives access to thousands of games absent from the market leader's database, particularly on national circuits and regional tournaments, precisely where your own games are played.

That leaves the question of size. Such a volume of games normally represents dozens of gigabytes. So we designed a proprietary binary format in which every move, every position and every piece of metadata is encoded down to the bit, without a single superfluous text character. The result: the 13 million games fit under 1 GB. The entire database fits on a modest laptop, available offline, including in the tournament hall or on a train.

This compression does not come at the cost of speed, quite the opposite: searching for a player and all of their games takes less than a second, whatever the size of the database queried. Searches by position, by opening or by structure meet the same standard. A FIDE player database is built in with autocomplete, so you don't have to look up the exact spelling of a name before each query.

Finally, an important choice: no rating filter is applied. Many databases limit themselves to high-level games, which is useful for studying the classics but useless for preparing your next round. Whether you are 1400, 1700 or 2400 Elo, you compare your games with those of opponents at your real level, whose mistakes and choices resemble your own.

Beyond the reference database, NotiChess organizes all of your working material: your own databases imported in PGN format, your personal game database, a database dedicated to tournaments with automatic performance tracking, and an analysis queue to process your games gradually, without ever losing track of what is left to review.
